Entrance door with inlay bars and sidelight, Jumeirah Golf Estates

The brief

A contemporary villa with an arched entrance and a herringbone oak floor wanted a warm timber door with a graphic detail that would read from the street, and daylight into the hall through a sidelight.

What we made

A flush leaf in a mahogany toned veneer on a solid engineered core, with three black metal bars inlaid across the face and a long black pull that lines through with them. The sidelight frame is made in the same timber and glazed in clear laminated glass, and the whole set is fitted into the arched opening with a square frame and a filled spandrel above. The design was approved on a 3D drawing before production, and the leaf was finished in a UV stable lacquer.

Why it works

The bars give the door a scale that suits the arched opening and the dark stone steps, and the warm timber sits with the oak floor inside. One detail leads; the rest is quiet. Approving the drawing first meant the inlay spacing and the pull position were agreed before a single cut.
