Doors
Wooden doors
Wood is the material of a good door: warm to touch, quiet to close and able to carry grain, grooves, panels and colour in a way no other material can. We make wooden doors for Dubai villas and apartments in walnut, oak, smoked oak, teak and mahogany, on engineered cores that stay straight in the heat, finished in lacquer or PU systems that hold their colour.

Wooden door designs
Most wooden door design in Dubai sits between two poles. On one side is the modern flush or grooved door, a single veneer with horizontal or vertical routed lines, a long pull and no mouldings, the door of the contemporary villa. On the other is the classic panelled door, raised or flat panels within a frame, mouldings, a lever or ring pulls, the door of the Mediterranean and Arabic villa. Between them sit the bookmatched veneer door, where the grain mirrors across the leaf; the geometric and chevron door, built from veneer pieces in a pattern; the fluted door, with vertical reeding across the face; the two tone door in veneer and lacquer; and the glazed timber door with reeded or clear panels. Every one of these can be a main door, an interior door or a fire rated door set, and every one can be drawn in the door designer before it is made.
Walnut, oak, teak or mahogany
Walnut is the most requested veneer for Dubai homes: deep brown, straight or figured grain, and it pairs with brass, black and travertine. Oak is lighter and calmer, natural or smoked, and suits minimal interiors and painted walls. Teak is warm and golden and the traditional choice for entrance doors in the Gulf. Mahogany and sapele are red brown and carry carving and raised panels well. Ash takes a whitewash for a Scandinavian look. Beyond the species, the cut matters: crown cut for figure, quarter cut for straight lines, bookmatched for symmetry. We show you veneer samples at the site measure and select the leaves for the pattern you want.
Solid wood or veneer
A fully solid timber door is a beautiful thing in a temperate climate and a problem in Dubai. Boards move with humidity, and a door that lives between an air conditioned hallway and a forty five degree porch will bow, bind or split. We build on engineered cores, stable laminated timber or high density board, faced with thick veneer or solid timber boards, and lipped in solid timber on all four edges. The door has the mass, the sound and the feel of solid wood, with the stability the climate demands. Where a client wants solid timber for a specific reason, we build it with laminated stiles and rails and explain the trade offs honestly.
Finishes for wooden doors
Clear lacquer in matt, satin or gloss shows the grain and protects it. Stained finishes shift the colour of a veneer, so oak can go smoked or walnut can go darker. PU paint in any colour gives a lacquer door, white, black, green, taupe or a colour from the room. External doors get a UV stable system so a sun facing entrance does not fade. All finishing is done in a spray booth before installation, not on site, so the finish is even and cured.
Wooden door frames and architraves
A wooden door comes with a wooden frame: a timber frame with a stop and an architrave in the same finish, a flush frame with a shadow gap, or a clad reveal that carries the veneer into the wall. Frames are made to the wall thickness measured on site and fixed with the gap for the floor finish, then sealed. Hinges, latches, locks and levers are chosen with the door and machined in production.
Wooden door prices in the UAE
Interior wooden doors start from AED 3,800 for the door and frame, and most fall between AED 3,800 and AED 8,000 once the finish, any grooves or mouldings and the hardware are chosen. Main doors start from around AED 13,000 for the door. Installation, removal of the old door, the lock, the handle, the hinges and the architrave are itemised separately on every quote, so you see what each part costs and can choose the hardware brand you want. Fire rated sets are quoted with their certificate. Send photos and sizes on WhatsApp for a guide figure before the measure.
Wooden doors for contractors and projects
We supply wooden door packages to fit out contractors and developers: interior door schedules, apartment entrance sets, fire rated schedules with certificates, all made to the consultant's door schedule and finish board. The trade page explains the process.

Frequently asked
Which wood is best for doors in Dubai?
Walnut, oak and teak veneers on an engineered core. The veneer gives the look, the core keeps the door straight in the heat and humidity. Fully solid boards move too much for most Dubai homes.
Do you make solid wood doors?
Yes, with laminated stiles and rails rather than single boards, and only where there is a reason for it. For most doors an engineered core with thick veneer is the better build.
How much does a wooden door cost in the UAE?
Interior wooden doors start from AED 3,800 for the door and frame, most falling between AED 3,800 and AED 8,000 with the finish and hardware chosen. Main doors start from around AED 13,000. Installation, removal and hardware are itemised separately.
Can wooden doors be fire rated?
Yes. We make 60, 90 and 120 minute fire rated wooden door sets in walnut, oak and painted finishes, certified for Dubai Civil Defence.
Will a wooden main door fade in the sun?
Not with the right finish. External doors get a UV stable lacquer or PU system, and we advise on recesses and canopies for fully exposed entrances.
Can you match the doors to my kitchen or wardrobes?
Yes. Where Joinery Haus is making the kitchen or wardrobes, we match veneers and finishes across both so the house reads as one.
How long does a bespoke door take?
Lead time depends on the size, finish, hardware and how quickly drawings are approved. We confirm the programme in writing when you approve the drawings, and keep you updated during production.
What are your payment terms?
For made to order doors we work on 60 percent on approval of drawings, 25 percent at the midpoint of production and 15 percent on completion.
Do you supply handles and smart locks?
Yes. Every door is quoted with its hardware: lever handles, pull bars, hinges, closers and smart locks with fingerprint, face recognition or keypad access. We offer our signature range and the Devon Studio collection, and can fit a named smart lock brand on request. Choose your hardware in the door designer and we confirm availability with the quotation.
