Project
Sliding door on a black rail, Downtown Dubai
A white painted sliding door on an exposed black rail for a Downtown Dubai apartment, fixed to the face of the wall above the opening so the room gained a door without a frame, a swing or any building work.
The brief
An apartment bedroom opening with no room for a swinging door and a finished wall that could not be opened for a pocket.
What we made
A white PU painted flush leaf, made wider and taller than the opening so it overlaps the reveal, hung on rollers from a black steel rail fixed through the wall above the opening, with a floor guide at the foot, soft close stops at each end and a flush pull on the face.
Why it works
A visible rail is the simplest sliding door to add to a finished room. The black rail against the white wall and the herringbone floor turns a practical fix into a detail.
