Project
Hidden doors for a villa in Meydan District One
A set of white hidden flush doors with concealed frames and black levers for a villa in Meydan District One, hung so the corridor reads as one white wall with only shadow gaps and the levers showing.
The brief
A contemporary villa with pale timber floors and white walls wanted the doors to disappear, and the hardware to be the only black line in the corridor.
What we made
Concealed frames set into the openings and plastered flush, white flush leaves on concealed adjustable hinges with a fine shadow gap, and slim black levers on round roses. The leaves were painted to the wall so door and wall carry the same colour.
Why it works
With the frames gone and the colour matched, the corridor becomes a sequence of planes, and the black levers set out at the same height give it rhythm. The pale floor keeps the light moving along the run.
