Fire rated doors
90 minute fire rated doors
A 90 minute fire rated door set is tested to hold back fire for at least 90 minutes. We supply 90 minute fire rated wooden door sets in Dubai, tested to BS 476 Part 22 and supplied with the Dubai Civil Defence certificate and stamp, finished to match your interior.

Where 90 minute doors are used
A 90 minute rating is used where the consultant or authority requires more than an hour of protection, for example on certain corridors, plant rooms and escape routes. Your consultant or the approved drawings set the rating for each opening. We work from the door schedule and supply each set with its certificate.
What is included
The leaf, frame, intumescent seals, hinges, closer and ironmongery are supplied as one certified set and installed by our team. Vision panels in fire rated glass can be included where the certified build allows.
Where a 90 minute door is required
Ninety minutes sits between the common one hour door and the two hour door, and it is specified where the compartment wall it sits in is rated for ninety minutes or where the consultant wants a margin on an escape route. Typical openings are doors into protected lobbies and refuge areas, doors on long hotel and hospital corridors that form part of the escape route, doors to plant rooms, generator rooms and transformer rooms on residential floors, and doors between a car park and a lift lobby. As with every rating, the approved drawings and the door schedule decide it opening by opening.
How a 90 minute timber door set differs from a 60
The core is denser and usually thicker, the lippings are wider, and the intumescent protection is heavier: a wider or doubled strip on the frame, often with additional intumescent material behind the hinges, the lock and the closer fixings, because the ironmongery recesses are where a leaf fails first. Hinges are heavier gauge and there are usually four per leaf. The frame section is deeper and may be a fire rated engineered timber rather than a plain hardwood. The closer is specified for the heavier leaf. All of this is on the certificate, which is why a 90 minute set is bought as a set and never assembled from parts.
Glazing
Vision panels are possible in a 90 minute leaf but the glazed area is smaller and the glass is a thicker laminated fire rated type. We confirm the permitted panel size against the test evidence before it is drawn.
Finishes and matching
The face finish is free: veneer, laminate or paint grade. On a floor that mixes 60 and 90 minute doors we finish all of them identically so the corridor reads as one scheme; only the certificate label on the hinge edge tells them apart.
What we need to quote
The door schedule with the rating per opening, sizes, finish, hardware and smoke seal requirement. We price each set with its certificate and submit drawings and certificates for approval before production.

Made to order
Your door is factory produced to the approved drawings, with production updates as it moves through the build and a quality check before it leaves.
Installed by our team
Our fitting team installs, adjusts and hands over the door, with one point of contact from the first visit to the last adjustment.
Questions
Frequently asked
Is a 90 minute fire door certified in Dubai?
Our 90 minute door sets are tested to BS 476 Part 22 and supplied with the Dubai Civil Defence certificate and stamp for the project.
Can the door have glass?
Yes, where the certified build allows, using fire rated glass in a tested vision panel.
Can you supply a full project schedule?
Yes. Send the door schedule and drawings and we will price every opening with its rating, size, finish and hardware.
When is a 90 minute fire door needed instead of a 60?
When the wall it sits in is rated for 90 minutes or the consultant has specified 90 minutes on an escape route, protected lobby, plant room or similar opening. The door schedule on the approved drawings decides it.
