Fire rated doors
120 minute fire rated doors
A 120 minute fire rated door set is tested to hold back fire for at least 120 minutes. We supply 120 minute fire rated wooden door sets in Dubai, tested to BS 476 Part 22 and supplied with the Dubai Civil Defence certificate and stamp, finished to match your interior.

Where 120 minute doors are used
A 120 minute rating is used on the highest risk openings, such as stair cores, electrical rooms and fire compartment walls specified for two hours. Your consultant or the approved drawings set the rating for each opening. We work from the door schedule and supply each set with its certificate.
What is included
The leaf, frame, intumescent seals, hinges, closer and ironmongery are supplied as one certified set and installed by our team. Vision panels in fire rated glass can be included where the certified build allows.
Where a 120 minute door is required
Two hours is the rating for the openings that protect the structure and the escape stairs: doors into protected stair cores and firefighting shafts, doors in fire compartment walls specified for two hours, doors to electrical and LV rooms, transformer rooms, fuel and pump rooms, and doors between a basement car park and the building core. These are the doors that must still be standing after everything around them has burned, and the Civil Defence inspection pays them particular attention.
How a 120 minute timber door set is built
The leaf is the heaviest in the range, on a dense mineral or composite fire core around 54 to 64 mm thick, with wide hardwood lippings and intumescent protection around every ironmongery recess. The frame is a fire rated engineered section with doubled intumescent seals and, where specified, cold smoke seals. Hinges are heavy gauge steel, four per leaf, and the closer is rated for the leaf weight. Where a timber set cannot meet the test for a particular opening, a steel set is specified instead, and we tell you that at the drawing stage rather than after.
Glazing
Glass in a two hour leaf is limited to small vision panels where the certificate permits them, and many 120 minute sets are solid. If sight through the door matters, the consultant usually places a rated glazed screen beside the door rather than a panel in it.
Pairs, oversized leaves and hardware
Stair core and plant room doors are often pairs or oversized single leaves. A 120 minute pair needs a rated meeting stile detail, a closer on each leaf and a coordinator so the leaves close in sequence. Panic hardware on escape doors is specified with the set so the leaf is prepared for it in production and the certificate covers it.
What we need to quote
The door schedule with sizes, rating, pairs or singles, finish, hardware including panic bars and coordinators, and smoke seal requirements. Every set is priced with its certificate and the drawings are submitted for approval before production.
How we work
From site measure to installation
Four steps, one point of contact, and nothing made until you approve the drawings.
Site measure
We visit, measure the opening, check the wall build up and floor level, and talk through how the door should look and work.
Drawings and samples
You receive shop drawings and physical finish samples. Nothing goes into production until you or your designer approve them.
Made to order
Your door is factory produced to the approved drawings, with production updates as it moves through the build and a quality check before it leaves.
Installed by our team
Our fitting team installs, adjusts and hands over the door, with one point of contact from the first visit to the last adjustment.
Questions
Frequently asked
Is a 120 minute fire door certified in Dubai?
Our 120 minute door sets are tested to BS 476 Part 22 and supplied with the Dubai Civil Defence certificate and stamp for the project.
Can the door have glass?
Yes, where the certified build allows, using fire rated glass in a tested vision panel.
Can you supply a full project schedule?
Yes. Send the door schedule and drawings and we will price every opening with its rating, size, finish and hardware.
Is a 120 minute fire door available in timber?
Yes, as a heavy timber set on a mineral or composite core around 54 to 64 mm thick with doubled intumescent seals. Where a particular opening cannot be met in timber, a steel set is specified and we tell you at the drawing stage.
Do stair core doors need panic hardware?
Escape doors usually do. The panic bar or push pad is specified with the set so the leaf is prepared in production and the certificate covers the complete assembly.
